Michelle’s Story.

Our Sponsors are the backbone of the Out of the Ashes educational mission.

A basic tenet of the OA Sponsor program is the belief that a positive and supportive relationship between Student and Sponsor provides encouragement and guidance necessary for successful performance in school. To ensure each child has what he or she needs to permanently break the cycle of extreme poverty, our comprehensive program provides tuition, nutritious food, clothing, school supplies, personal care supplies, medical care, and counseling services.

When any of our Students graduate from the program, we ask their Sponsors to reflect on their Sponsorship journey.

This is Michelle’s Story

Her student, Kaleb, graduated this year and she had this to say about her Sponsorship of him:

“We began Sponsorship in August of 2011 after traveling with ‘Visiting Orphans’ on a missions trip. We picked Kaleb and have sponsored him from 2011 until his recent graduation.  

We have absolutely loved developing a relationship with Kaleb over the years.

My husband got to meet his whole family in 2012 (photo below) and Kaleb’s parents expressed such gratitude for our sponsorship of him.  

Recently, our whole family cheered when we saw Kaleb’s graduation pictures on Facebook. We’ve enjoyed praying for Kaleb and we have seen that he loves the Lord. We love the personal interaction with him. Sometimes he sends us prayer requests through Facebook.  We’re so proud of Kaleb for his commitment to his future. He has worked so hard to reach his goals. It’s inspiring to us.  

We hope to travel back to Ethiopia next summer (2022) and a visit with Kaleb will be on the agenda! 😊  We are currently praying through the waiting children list to find our next child to sponsor.  

For us, sponsoring a child has blessed us incredibly and we’ve seen the benefit in Kaleb’s life as well. “
